Our Boxers

The Boxer is a favorite of mine.  The shiney coat that fits tightly on this dogs muscular frame gives him/her a look of intimidation yet the dog is friendly to all in his/her family.  The boxer will guard your home and love your children.  The males will loyally follow you around as the females makes sure business is taken care of on the property.  They are truely the "clown" of the K9 world due to their love of attention... and YOUR attention is what they love the most.

Draco and Diva are the Boxers in our household.  Draco can be calmer due to his age but you see all the energy of the breed in Diva (who is still but a pup).  We have hopes of showing a boxer and the idea of showing Draco has not been dismissed just yet.  Me being in Nursing school at the moment takes away from the time needed for showing him.  By the time I'm out of school it may be just too late and another puppy will have to be bought to take care of this dream of showing.  Diva is not "show" quality dog but is a loving dog and will hopefully one day be a fine mother.

We health check our dogs before we plan for them to be bred.  The boxer is prone to certain diseases and disorders, big ones are Hip Dysplasia and Heart Disease.  We check our dogs hips at the age of 2 and have them OFA registered.  We have plans to check the dogs for heart disease as well.  This is a new health test for us but after much reading and advice from other breeders, we feel it is a necessary test if we plan to breed the dog.

If you feel a boxer is a dog you'd be interested in, please do a little research and ask questions.  It is heart breaking to find yourself with a dog that you can't manage or just doesn't fit in with your life style and then have to give it up.  This is why we have so many boxers in shelters and rescues (or even worse, tied up outside with only a visit once a day to be fed).  Our puppies will forever be welcome back to our home if a buyer can no longer keep the dog,  but it is better to place a dog in a "forever" home.
